Magic Sky – Najad 331
Year of Build :
Berthed at : Itchen Marina, Southampton
Owned by : James Darnton
Registration :
MMSI :
CallSign :
Magic Sky (SSR 94123) was originally named ‘Gannet’ purchased by the British Army Kiel Yacht Club boat in 2001. The last owner changed her name in 2014 and I have owned her since November 2016. I joined Marchwood Yacht Club and have particpated in some club racing where her pointing ability and speed in 15 knots + breeze (normal conditions this summer) has helped produce some very good results.

The only two issues I have had with the boat to date have been engine related (Volvo 2030 sail drive). Firstly water ingress in the the sail drive leg resulting in milky oil. This was solved by lifting the boat out and changing the seals, and then to prevent reoccurrence, venting the top of the leg by rigging a small header tank. Second problem was an engine failure caused by the heat exchange stack becoming blocked through build up of deposits.
